THIS IS the lens from Cape Blanco Lighthouse. You can see it in the video trailer for POINT SURRENDER at Beacon Street Books. The photo, by photographer Roger Medlin (take a look at his incredible work! http://www.oregonicons.com/), epitomizes the mysterious aura surrounding POINT SURRENDER, as if the lighthouse could truly be a living part of its own tragic past. Watching. Waiting. Knowing. |

No, POINT SURRENDER lighthouse does not exist in a physical sense. It is a composite of places I've been, seen and imagined. Inspired by the beautiful Heceta Head and Cape Blanco lighthouses of the Oregon coast, Surrender needed to be in California and was "placed" somewhere between real lighthouses at Point Montara and Carmel, California, just south of San Francisco. |
|
Heceta Head Lighthouse, Yachats, Oregon, is a lovely historic relic and now its keeper’s house serves as a bed and breakfast. However, like most lighthouses today, it faces on-going challenges and maintenance issues. You can help preserve this incredible property by making a donation to the Oregon State Park Trust!

Did You Know? The most expensive lighthouse built in America is St. George Reef, off Crescent City, California. It took ten years to construct (1882-1892) and cost $715,000.00. Built on an exposed rock, St. George is six miles off the Del Norte Coast—near the California/Oregon border. It was deactivated in 1975 and abandoned, but on-going restoration efforts commenced in 1988 and continue today. It is the only off-shore lighthouse in the world with public access, and one of five Pacific lighthouses to be immortalized on U.S. postage stamps this summer! St. George Reef Lighthouse provided the inspiration for my upcoming, paranormal lighthouse mystery, CAPE SEDUCTION! |

Printers Row in Chicago was fab! The weather was superb, the people were friendly, the book fair was exciting. The Echelon booth hopped the whole time! Can’t wait to go back. Here I am selling my lastest book to my newest fan! |
