determined to find out just what happened inside the decaying white beacon. Of course, there are those who would just as soon she didn’t...

Below is a picture of Dimick Lighthouse in Port Townsend, WA, where I stayed briefly while writing this book. Unlike POINT SURRENDER, there are no ghosts at Dimick Lighthouse; but for a few days one summer, the muse was definitely in residence!

There is nothing quite like the feeling of climbing that spiraling nautilus staircase inside a towering lighthouse. Is the echo you hear from your own shoes

as you ascend the aging iron steps, or is the resonance a remnant of days gone by, the sounds trapped forever inside the stairwell, bouncing from the rounded walls for eternity?

POINT SURRENDER, my newest release from Echelon Press, is about a lighthouse with a past. Its last keeper died there, leaving behind a journal describing his joys, his fears and his turbulent last years. What it does not explain is why he died, or what became of his missing family. As Point Surrender’s newest, if reluctant, caretaker, Amy Winslow is bound and

Thank you for reading my newsletter. It means a great deal to me that you would consider buying a copy of my book. As a thank you, I’m running a contest through July 15th.  From the excerpt of POINT SURRENDER found on my website, what four things did the heroine (Amy) leave for her cheating boyfriend? Email the answer to annecarter @ beaconstreetbooks.com (eliminate the spaces) and get in on the drawing for a miniature replica lighthouse!

c Contest Winners b

Waaaaaaay back in April, Road to Romance helped launch POINT SURRENDER by hosting a contest for me. Lucky Marie Robillard of Quebec, Canada, won a small replica of Heceta Head lighthouse, which was the inspiration for my book! In May, The Romance Studio put me in their glowing spotlight, and I offered my Hollywood love triangle contemporary, STARCROSSED HEARTS, in their Book-A-Day giveaway. Guess who won? Carrie Knickerbocker, that’s who! Hope you’re enjoying Jessica’s story, Carrie. And culminating June 1st, “Sue’s Clues” wrapped up a ten day mystery author contest on Romance Reader at Heart. The talented sleuth was Jackie Brown from Tennessee, who will get a copy of IN TOO DEEP for her trouble! THANKS to everyone who entered, and don’t forget to check out my own contest, mentioned above!

From Anne

Did You Know?  In 1898, a fierce hurricane hit Hilton Head, South Carolina. At the same moment a gale of wind knocked the glass out of the lanterns at The Harbour Town Lighthouse, keeper Adam Fripp was struck by a fatal heart attack. They say his daughter Caroline, who never recovered from her widowed father’s death, still roams the lighthouse, wailing and sobbing… and wearing a blue dress!
