Anne Carter says...

“I’ve been a storyteller since 7th grade, when I began dreaming up romance stories to tell my younger sister at bedtime.” Raised in Southern California where she, her husband and three children make their home, Anne runs a small bookkeeping business when she is not fleshing out the next scene to her current book.

Finding the time to write has been her biggest challenge. Stories fly in a holding pattern waiting to be typed out. Growing up a few miles from Hollywood was a great influence, one of the results of which was the writing of StarCrossed Hearts.  “Yes, I was—and still am—a teenybopper at heart.  I [with my school friends] used to hang out at the studio gates on weekends just hoping for a glimpse, maybe an autograph!”

Anne Carter:

The requisite “Glamour” shot

Recently, writing under her “other” name, Anne ventured into teen fiction with the release of Locker Shock! published by Quake. “Having raised two teenaged boys, writing middle grade fiction seemed like a natural.  Next, I’ll have to write something for my grade-schooler.”

Romance remains her favorite. She shies away from category romance, edging her stories more toward “women’s romantic fiction.”

Her first published e-book, In Too Deep, was an immediate success and was re-released, published by Wings ePress, Inc., in both e-format and as a trade paperback.

May, 2003“I am so excited about my latest release!  A Hero’s Promise, which is the sequel to StarCrossed Hearts, just won the prestigious GOLDEN WINGS AWARD, which is presented by Wings ePress to the ‘one book that the Senior Editor of each department feels best exemplifies wonderful story telling ability, great characterization and exceptional writing skills’.”

Also look for STARFIRE, an off-beat novella released by Echelon Press as part of their highly successful “Dollar Download” program. For a buck, you can download novellas in PDF format for a satisfying, quick read. STARFIRE is also available in multi-format from Fictionwise.

May, 2007: Wow! Point Surrender is finally out! Great reviews are coming in, and my fictional California lighthouse is now for sale. PLRM is a new genre for me (Paranormal-Lighthouse-Romantic-Mystery) but now I’m hooked. Latest WIP is titled CAPE SEDUCTION and will recount the lives of lighthouse lovers (literally) from 1948. Check back for updates!

Also on the horizon: THE GYPSY IN ME picks up at twelve years after the ending to A HERO’S PROMISE. Dane and Jessica are back, but this story focuses on their now grown children and the challenges they face as the off-spring of celebrities. Look for new characters and a romance triangle that will make you think history is repeating itself... No telling when, though. Seems I have more stories than I have time!

After significant nagging on the part of fans, a follow up to LOCKER SHOCK is the works. OLD ENOUGH will focus on Ben’s friends Zack and Alyssa, and will deal with new problems at Mydland School.

June, 2007:  Anne Carter was among hundreds of authors attending the Chicago Tribune’s Printers Row Book Fair June 9—10, 2007 in Chicago, of course. Three days later, she appeared at a book launch brunch hosted by Hollywood filmmaker Michael May and his charming wife, Laura!

April, 2008: L.A. Times Festival of Books, held at the beautiful UCLA campus in Westwood, California, was a smash! A warm smash, but lots of fun nonetheless. Lots of books sold, reunited with a great band of Echelon authors and introduced new teen author, Alyssa Montgomery, to the world of book fairs!
